Chase was diagnosed before his second birthday with severe autism. It was a very difficult time in all of our lives. But with the love and support of some good friends, neighbors and of course our families we were able to go at this diagnosis head on. Chase is non verbal and uses sign language as his primary communication. He is learning to use assistive technology as well. Everyday he attends a regular education classroom with the support of an aide. He is able to view what "typical" is and each day he gains a little more independence. Sometimes his classmates have questions about his behavior, but they have all learned that it is ok to be different. We have been fortunate enough to consult with the Carbone Clinic in NY and gain some vital knowledge and strategies in ABA and Verbal Behavior.
